How Shamrock Storage Got 90 Online Rentals in 2 Months

Shamrock Storage came to us with a common pain point: their website was on top of the competition, but they weren’t getting the online rentals they wanted. Like many owners, they were sold on the idea of better SEO and increasing traffic to their website to get more rentals. This was their top concern.

Increasing Conversion, Driving Rentals

Because Shamrock was already ranking highly on search engine results, we knew there were only so many ways for us to increase actual traffic to their website.

At some point, you’ve squeezed all of the juice you can out of the orange—now you need to make it into something.

For Shamrock Storage, our goal was to improve their conversion rate.

We would increase the web traffic as much as their market allowed, but we also knew there were people reaching their website and NOT renting. In other words, there were leads for us to turn into rentals.

Finding and renting units easily is the primary focus of every StoragePug site.

A home for every location

Each Location page essentially serves as the home page for the given location.

To increase conversion as much as possible, we ensure the rental flow is short and simple.

Building trust

When we design a website, our focus is on two factors: Building trust and making it easy to rent. On the Shamrock Storage site, we included their average review score right in the first component on the page. This way, visitors to the site are immediately greeted by a familiar visualization that gives a sense of reliability.

Shamrock Storage has two locations.

A location search box is included front and center on the Home page, but the reality is many leads won’t need to use this box. Most users will be directed immediately to the page for the Shamrock Storage location nearest to them.

Directing traffic to where it belongs: renting units

For leads that end up on the Home page, we want to encourage them to find the right location or start renting a unit.

For Shamrock Storage’s Home page, we focused on location and unit CTAs. We also included their top reviews to build trust with visitors.

Finally, we included photos of their security cameras and lighting to help build a feeling of security and reliability in visitors.

These pages are where the magic happened for Shamrock.

Whether or not we could increase web traffic for Shamrock Storage, we wanted to ensure that as many people as possible were actually renting after visiting the site.

Images build trust with customers, allowing them to see the property instead of renting on blind faith or having to physically visit the facility.

Making it better by making it easy

To increase conversion as much as possible, we ensure the rental flow is short and simple.

Our design team performs ongoing and extensive research using external sources and internal tracking of user sessions. This rental flow is the culmination of that research, resulting in one of the highest conversion rates in the industry.

Generating more traffic

The final step of our approach was to do everything possible to increase Shamrock Storage’s website traffic.

There are two methods we employed with Shamrock Storage:

  • On-page SEO
  • Optimization of Google Business Profile

Google Business Profile is an incredibly powerful way for self storage facilities to be found online by the right people.

It doesn’t help you to get a lead from 40 minutes across town, but that’s what can happen when you purely rely on regional SEO for your traffic. Meanwhile, Google Business Profile organically finds nearby leads using GPS data.

Finding the pot of gold

With their old site, Shamrock Storage was averaging around 5 online rentals per month between two locations.

In their two months with StoragePug, before Google even effectively ranked them with our changes made, they hit 90 online rentals.

Efforts we made to streamline their rental process and build trust in their customers’ minds increased their conversions by nearly 18 times the rate of their old website.

They always had the leads there—they just needed a website that would convert them into rentals.
