How do you handle a storage unit transfer from one tenant to a new tenant?
There could be a number of reasons for it, but the most important thing is for you to make sure everything is above the table and protect yourself from legal harm. We've got a template to make your life easier with our Unit Transfer Sheet!
What do you do when a tenant asks to transfer the rights to a storage unit to another person?
There are a whole host of reasons why this might happen. Some of the more common occurrences include:
The reasons go on, but they all have one thing in common: the storage unit is currently in one person's name, and they would like to transfer it to another person.
There are a number of ways you could go about this. Some operators simply process this as a move out of the existing tenant and then a move-in of the new tenant, for example.
However, this might not work for everyone, or it may be too clunky of a process that doesn't properly reflect what happened on your records. After all, presumably, the items in the storage unit are remaining within, and that is outside of the normal scheduled move-out/move-in procedures.
Thankfully, we've got just what you need to get started with our Unit Transfer Sheet, part of our Operator Toolkit!
You're already doing a lot of work to keep up with your facility and storage units. The last thing you need is to worry about recalling why something happened the way it happened months ago without anything on record. Help keep track of these transfers with the Unit Transfer Sheet from our Operator Toolkit.
